1/2 Marathon Recap and more

Wow, it has been too long since I gave an update.  I apologize!!!

Well to start I did run my second space coast 1/2 marathon - year 2 down 3 more to go!!!   Up until mile 8.5 I was keeping a pace that was in my plan to finish in under 4 hours, mile 9 I hit my wall (like normal), but was pushing through and only slowed down a minor bit.  By mile 10 I had a shooting pain up my leg through my ankle.  I'm not sure what that was all about, but because I was better by later that night I believe my shoes might be right at the end of their life.  I thought I had at at least another 100 miles on them, but I didn't let it stop me.  With my running buddy by myside and my I run 4 buddy Jocelyn in my heart and on my running gear I was bound and determined to finish the last three miles.  I ended up walking most of those last 3 miles instead of the run/walk/run that I normally do.  But I finished 4 hrs 19 min.  Slower than I wanted, but I finished and I finished "running" across the finish line which is mine and my running buddy's goal every time.   As I took that last step over the finish line both my calves went into charlie horses, thankfully two steps away there was a place to sit and calm them down.  I was able to and was able to walk back to the car.  My husband and my youngest step son where at the finish line to cheer me on.  It is so great to see and hear them to push in those last hundred feet or so.

On to the two races I am helping organize - one virtual and one local.

The first is the Virtual race.  It is for my woman's club, GFWC Sebastian River Junior Woman's Club. It is a virtual race - you run your distance, any where you want any time you want and earn a puppy paw print medal.  1/2 the money will go to my club to be used in our community, 1/2 the money will go to Canine Companions for Independence wounded warrior initiative.    See the flyer below.
Second race is the second annual Egg Scramble 5k that I co-organize www.eggscramble5k.com.  This will be held April 4th.  With bounce houses and an egg hunt for the kids after the race.  The money raised for this event goes to my church and to Promise in Brevard - "Our ultimate goal is to provide a much needed housing choice for our cherished family members with special needs. Because every person is different, Promise will have varying levels of support - based on individual needs. With a sense of independence long yearned for, Promise residents will have an inclusive, safe and fun place to live, among neighbors who care. Promise will also include vocational training and employment opportunities with on-site training and continuing education."
