2 more gone

I lost 2lbs this past week! I decided to look back at how far I've come - sometimes I get so stuck in the today and the tomorrow that I forget that I have already come a long way and need to appreciate that.
So here in picture form is just how far I've come and then two pictures to compare of before and today.

Great DR!

I finally found a regular DR that I am in love with!!! She is usually running behind, but she takes the time with each patient to make sure that they understand everything they are being described and what conditions they may have.
She is the first DR that knows more about PCOS than I do - thank goodness!!!!
She has recommended that I go on the Insulin-Resistance Diet. I will be pairing it with the weight watchers, because I need the weekly accountability and the group atmosphere. But I will make the two work together.
Also I know I haven't seen alot of you in a while so I thougth I would post a picture I took this past weekend at the air show.

Thank You Vets! Happy Veteran's Day - 11/11/2008

What a great Weekend!!

Ok where do I start? What an amazing weekend.
1st: Saturday Morning we get up and take the bike and I run in the WW meeting to weigh in. I lost 3.2 lbs this week!! Have no idea how, but I will take it. So thats a total of 17.7 lbs lost.

2nd: From there we head off to the Kennedy Space Center for the Air Show. My first Air show with the Blue Angels as head liners! AMAZING! I highly recommend that if you have never seen an airshow and there is one near by GO SEE IT!

3rd: This morning we got up and went to the Space Coast Harely Davidson store for the Bikers Ride for Babies - Motorcycle ride for the March of Dimes. It was a 50 mile ride around our county with a police escort so no stopping for any lights or stop signs. How cool is it for 300 - 500 motorcycles to come roaring by all traffic is stopped. We had people getting out of their cars and taking pictures, people coming out of their houses and waiving. It was like we in a parade, and what a good cause to show bikers in a good light.

Here are just a couple pictures from this weekend.

The Blue Angels!

Passing Plateaus
Expert help for when your body stalls
Biggest Loser Club fitness expert Maria Patella knows how frustrating it is to hit a plateau in your weight loss. While no one is certain why the body chooses to "shut down" at certain points in your weight-loss plan, Maria says experts do have a theory: "We see again and again that over-exercise and under-eating, in an effort to lose more weight quickly, can shut down weight loss," Maria says. "And that is why consistency is more important than doing a lot for a short time."

Maria says for this reason, the worst mistake dieters make is allowing the numbers on the scale to discourage them: "Many times folks quit when their body is just taking a rest," Maria says. "It may be 'wondering' whether or not the lower calories and increased exercise are going to continue. And when they don't, the body happily gains again."

Maria says the best thing to do is to continue to eat right and exercise even when the weight loss has slowed down. "You send a signal to the body that it needs to adapt because the healthy habits are here to stay," Maria says.

Maria says sometime it takes weeks for the body to kick back in and surpass the "magical" metabolic threshold, but a new level of fitness lies beyond that as long as you don't give up.

Maria's advice? "Hang in there, what matters most is what you do over time."

No more Pasta for dinner

So I lost 0.2lbs this week. But at least it was a loss. I did really well all week, but Thursday and Friday I had pasta. I added veggies to the pasta and protein. I was within my points and I worked out - but apparently past for dinner just adds pounds on me. Thats what this journey is about though, learning the lessons that will change my life not just help me on a "diet".

Feel like I am cheating

I know I'm not, but WW encourages you to eat all your points. Well I gained last week and really did not have a reason for it so this week I am eating less than my points. I am actually staying about 10-8 points less than what I am suppose to have. And I am seeing some results. I know they say not to weigh everyday, but because I can gain 5lbs in one day based off the wrong food I have to weigh everyday so that I can learn what foods are the "bad" foods. Of course we will have to see what Saturday brings.

I hope everyone has made it to hump day in good health and high spirts.

Biggest Loser - inspiration

Over the past months I have learned how PCOS really makes me different. I cannot just work out 30 minutes a day 3-4 days a week. Nope I have to work out 6 days a week and only one or two of those days can be for 30 minutes. The rest better be an hour or more or I am not going to lose. Let me tell you that is a hard concept to grab, but I think I have got it - I hope. :-) So every Tuesday I do two things. I get in my resitance training with the biggest loser power sculpt - I hate resitance training! :-) That is about 25-30 minutes. Then I flip on my tv to biggest loser families and jump on my eliptical and work my way through 3-4 programs. See on Tuesdays Biggest Loser Families is on tv for 2 hours. It gets my week off to the right start - but at the same time it is not Monday's which is just a tough day for me.
I also am in a weight loss challenge with 3 of my friends from work. We weigh in each Friday with the challenge ending Dec. 31. That gives me the support at work to keep on track. 3 friends that are there to run to instead of running to the vending machine - .. and they are always good for a hearty laugh.
Well life is going good - this past Saturday I lost 2.3 pounds, for an official 15.3 total loss!!!
Thank you for all your support - it really is a big help, especially on the days where I think this PCOS stuff really sucks. :-)

Past Counting Days

I have passed the stage where it matters what day of this journey I am on. This has become life instead of each day. In that perspective it helps - because last week i gained 3lbs! Still haven't figured that one out, but I did add resistance training back in. So this week I kept the resistance training up and I wrote down what I ate keep a close eye on my veggie and fruit intake - I had let it slip a litte. The veggies and fruits have not become a complete habit yet.

I found this great quote - helped me from getting too frustrated with this gain:
from Biggest Loser Season 5's Curtis Bray:
"Failure is never starting. Every step toward your goal is success."

So along this route I have given myself a new challenge, and I have some help. There are 4 of us at work who are watching our weight and trying to change our livestyles. So starting today we are each putting in $20 and every week for every pound we gain we will put in a dollar. On December 30/31 how ever has lost the most will win the pot!
The money is great, but for me having four friends I am around every day of the week will be a great source of help and encouragement. We will see what happens

Over and Out!

How many days?

Well this past week I have lost another 0.6lbs. Which now puts me at a total weight loss of 13.5. 0.6 is a very very slow route, but at least it is consistency.
It took so long to update because I was very sick. I left work early on Friday and did not return to work until Tuesday this week. I still have a pretty bad cough, but other wise am feeling much better.

Tuesday was also my birthday. Jeremy and I went to the texas road house - one of my favorite places. I was just glad I was up for going out. When you no longer get school holidays it suchs to have to spend the weekend in bed because you just don't have the energy to get up.

Well that is all for now. Ike is going to miss us here in Florida, but now it is headed for Texas where mom and dad live - so please keep them in your prayers this week.

Day 136 - I DID IT!

So first I had to weigh in on Friday because Jeremy and I had all day plans for Saturday. I lost 0.6 this week - still headed in the right direction.

But yesterday I completed my first 10k! I participate in the Nike+ human race - i did not need to go anywhere, just hooked up my ipod and off I went. My goal was first to finish and second to finish under 3 hours.

Well I was able to run a portion of every single kilometer exept the very last one. I finished in 2hrs 24 minutes and 34seconds. I got early, about 6:30am so that I didn't have to contend with the heat so much, though it was getting pretty sticky by the time I got home. Even though I was pretty exhausted I remembered from my weight training days that it is best if you can eat something with in 20 minutes after working out so I managed to eat and then crashed for a few hours.

When I woke up I was a bit stiff and could tell where I was going to be sore - so I took a nice hot bath with epsom salt - miracle worker! This morning I am barely sore. There are a couple spots but not all over my body like it would have been.

I think I like my 2 -3 mile run/walks better, but there is nothing like being able to say that I can finish a 10k!

well that is all I know for now.

Day 130

Well this week is going much better than last week already. I worked out on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. The release I've always gotten from running is returning. There is nothing like a 1.5 mile run to get your brain to turn off - which we all know I have an issue with. :-)

Veggies and fruit are going well. That hard push to make sure I got in fruits and veggies for those 4 weeks has made it a habit I don't really need to think about. Now if I have a meal with out veggies it feels like an incomplete meal. What a great feeling - to not need to think so hard about every little piece of food I eat.

Getting food to be not such an important roll in my daily life is a great feeling.

Day 124 - "Rain Day"

Can't call it a snow day, because obviously it isn't snowing. But there is a lot of rain and some wind. We haven't lost power and I've been through much worse storms in the midwest. The news is making people panic and sound like it is really bad - ok where the tornados touched down isn't so good, but that isn't near us.
Work closed down today, because us the flooding - there is a lot of standing water - they don't drain well around here, but some places have seen more than 10" of rain.
I had to go out earlier - I just took Jeremy's truck, but I really would have been fine in my van.

So once worked closed I took the advantage and got a few more hours of sleep. Now I am making lunch and then I am going work out - it will be an inside work out.

Driving down the street it is like livin in a ghost town. There are very few people out and nothing is moving but the trees in the wind. Its crazy. Its so different than how people from the midwest would (and I have seen) act and go about their lives in a strom like this. Its crazy. I mean it is gray out, but it isn't supper dark like we are use to.

Well that is where things are. We are AOK and there is nothing to worry about.

120 - weigh in day

Ok - I lost the 0.4 that I gained last week. Not the 1lb I wanted but back in the right direction!

Another success for today - today was the first time I finished the 40 min beginners 10k training program. The last interval training set was done with just walking, but thats not completely unexpected the first time making it the full 40 minutes. Unfortunatly I did get a blister - and pop it - so walking was mandatory.

On Sunday August 31st I will actually do the full 10k walk/run with my nike+ and uploaded it to the Nike+ website to participate in the Human Race.

Work has started to pick up and be a little more crazy. The house in Iowa has buyers, but there is a snapho with the first people that made an offer and we are now dealing with lawyers, ugh!

So I am getting a lot of pactice at keeping my stress levels low.

Well that is all I know for now. I hope every one had a good week.

115 - being selfish

Ok - well I gained 0.4 this week. Not really sure why - except that I didn't put in an hours workout everyday. UGH!! So well on Saturday I had already walked a mile and a half for 35 minutes so on Sunday I decided to take a selfish/childish day. I stayed with in my points and ate healthy, but I didn't work out. I enjoyed watching the olympics and reading one whole book and a part of another - these books by Stephenie Meyer are near to impossible to put down!

I needed yesterday to just be mad that I have to put in so much extra work. Its not like I didn't work out at all last week. A friend and I walked for 15-20 minutes everyday at lunch last week. How many people have I heard that have just added a 15-20 minute walking in at lunch and that was enough for them to drop pounds if they were watching what they were eating?!!????

But now after that day to act selfish and childish I am back on track - still eating right and getting in my fruits and veggies (I bought clementines this weekend - yummy!). I also have the 10k human race - through nike+ - that I am working to train for August 31st. I will be walking/running and doing it on my own time, not an offical race anywhere. That should give me enough push to up my working out. Plus Nike+ put out a training aid for the ipod for this which I haven't tried yet, and it is a tough 40minute work out - I listened to it the other day.

So here we go again!
Another long week ahead.

Day 110 - not off the wagon

Ok I know I haven't blogged in 6 days, but not to worry I haven't fallen off the wagon.

I have been keeping to my points and working out at least 30 minutes. A friend and I have been going out and walking right before lunch - which in this heat is like working out in a sauna, great for uping the intensity.

After recovering from not feeling so well after the endoscopy I got right back on my at least 6 veggies a day.

At saturday's weigh in I gained .2lbs, which in my book is the same as maintaining. Not bad after a procedure and feeling so sick I had to eat just want I could stomache.

I will let you know how the rest of this week goes.

Thursday, July 31, 2008

104 - UGH

Ok - Well the endoscopy went well. The Dr. didn't see anything wrong, he did take a biopsy and we will know the results, probably, next week. He is going to try me on an antacid to see if that helps with the naucia.

And true to form when I have been under anesticia I slept most of the day - I didn't really start to wake up and feel normal until around 6:30pm.

Unfortunatly I had some pain and still have it this morning so I did not work out last night - and I had a bowl of plain noodles for dinner. So no fruit or veggies.

I will let you know how tonight goes.

Wednesday, July 30, 2008

103

Well I stayed with in my points. I got in 6 veggies and 1 fruit.

I am having an endoscopy done this morning and was a bit nervious/ am a bit nervous and ended up watching half of season 1 of Heros with Jeremy before falling asleep. I didn't get a work out in yesterday.

I will let you know how things go.

Monday, July 28, 2008

102 - long day

Well - I am going to be at work until at least 5pm, but probably later so at about 1 when I noticed I was getting tired I went outside and walked for 15 minutes. It was just the trick to wake me up - got the blood moving.
I have 6 veggies and 1 fruit already for the day.
We tired out both salads last night, we like them both but like the Greek power past salad best so I am copying it below to share with all of you. ENJOY!

Day 101

OK - well I ran/walked for 50 minutes today. Might have been too much, might have blisters on my heals.

Found a couple more salads I'm going to try. I will let you know how they are.

DAY 100!!!!

And what a day - I lost 3.4lbs this week. That puts me at a total loss of 13.5!!!!!! Wahoo!! What has been working?
Lots of veggies.
Fruit only in the am - unless it is a banana after I run.
Not thinking like I am on a diet. - this has been the most important over the long run. By not thinking I'm on a diet and don't ever feel deprived or like I can't have anything. I haven't had Mcdonald's in about a month, but not because I don't want to just because I have stuff I want to eat at home. I had pizza the other day and didn't feel guilty.

Running has helped a lot. I spent so many years as a soccer player or training for soccer that I think my body expects to run. As long as I don't over do it and I take it slow - because I'm not a training althete any more I should be able to continue. I am going to check out a local running store today to see about a new pair of shoes and if they have anything to make it easier to run with Tank!

Well I hope everyone has a great Saturday.

97-99 - OOPS

Sorry I have been pretty busy this week. I worked out each day - running and walking yesterday for 30 minutes.

Each day I stayed with in my points. I got in at least 3 fruites and 5 veggies.

Today is weigh in day so I will post later on how that goes.

Thursday, July 24, 2008

97 - Great News

Ok so I know I am posting this a day late, but better late than never. Yesterday I saw the DR that started this all - I was 15 lbs lighter than the last time I started with him. (I was heavier at his office than at WW).

YEAH!!!!!!! Super Excited!

I had a huge craving for pizza last night - pizza is usually a red light food for me, meaning I can just eat my normal portions, but I got pizza anyways last night (it keeps it from feeling like I am on a diet, cause I'm not). and.... I only had 2 pieces!! Go ME!

Ok other than that I took about a 20 minute light walk and did about 20 minutes of resistence training.

Tuesday, July 22, 2008

96

Well I still have 10 points left, working on something light and healthy to eat. I did not work out tonight - but that is because I just got home.
Crazy day!

Tomorrow I have the 3 month check-in with Dr. Sergent - the DR who got all this started. I will let you know how it goes.

Good night all.

95 - Monday, need I say more

Ok -
I ate my points today. I got in 3 fruits and 6 veggies.

Tonight I went for one run and one walk around the block. It had been raining and looked like it could rain again so I did this work out without Tank. It did not rain, but it was a lot less humid - which is always a good thing. 35 minutes.

Hope everyone made it through Monday.

Sunday, July 20, 2008

94 - relaxing sunday

I stayed within my points today. I got in 1 fruit and 9 veggies.
I took tank out and we ran once around the block and walked once around the block. 35 minute workout in what felt like a sauna.

Great weekend. Start to another week tomorrow.

My Daily Inspiration

At weight watchers one of the things they talk about is having a physical object to remind you of your journey. This is to see how far you have come, because on the very long journey of losing weight it is easy to forget how far you have come and what an accomplishment that is when you still have a long way to go.
Each pound lost is a big accomplishment and should be celabrated as such. Easier said than done. So I have gotten to that point that I have found a physical object that can remind me every day just how far I have come. Below is a picture of it: it is a candle holder.
The candle hangs down in the middle - to remind me that there is a light at the end of this long dark tunnel - and that is a healthier better me for life.
Then on the bottom, for each pound I lose, is a blue, green, or clear stone. The colors do not mean anything, they match with my color in my bathroom and that is where I keep this so I see it every morning when I wake up and every night before I go to bed.
Around the outside of the candel holder I have placed my inspiration weight loss quote in stickers. The quote:
"It's not whether you get knocked down; it's whether you get up" - Vince Lombardi.

This quote fits perfectly with what I have finally figured out.
A few years back I had lost 50 pounds, but have since gained it back. I was on weight watchers at the time so the life style changes I am trying to make are not different. What is different is that at the time - due to my training for college soccer - I was running anywhere between 3 and 5 miles a day. And as one serious runner told me once - when you are running that much every day it doesn't really matter what you eat. At the time I was watching my point values, but not the what it was to get to those points.

This time - even though I have started running again - I started by focusing on how to eat the right things. Like more veggies and fruits. It is becoming more and more rare that I have a lunch or a dinner with out 2 veggies in it.

So this time around I have made - ok am a whole lot closer - to making healthy eating a habit that I don't even have to think about any more. And now that I have made that step I am adding running back into my routine. So even if I stop running again at some point it should not have the same out come as that time in the past.

I am chosing to share this, because it not only helps me to write this down to learn from my past, but it just may help one of you that is reading this - without having to make the same mistake.

Thanks for letting me share this with all of you.

92 - It's FRIDAY!!!

Well I didn't work out any more last night, I ended up working until a little past 11.

Today I stayed with in my points and I got in 4 veggies and 1 fruit.

Workout:
I took take for a run/walk. One run around the block one walk around the block. 35minutes. Felt like running in a sauna, but it felt good.

Tonight we are going to see a movie - don't know which one yet.

Hope everyone has a great Friday!

92 - It's FIDA

Day 86 - weigh in day

Ok - I have a moment so I am going to post now instead of at the end of the day.
I lost 2 lbs for a total of 9.7 - that 10lbs loss is being a little elusive, have to wait until next week for that bench mark.

I have had 1 fruit and 1 veggie already today.

No working out yet, but we shall see what I can get in.

Having a great time with the inlaws. Mother-in-law and I are going to check out the Millenia mall tomorrow. The guys played golf today and are going to play again tomorrow.

We picked up Pam and Terry last night from the airport. Jeremy and Terry are going to play golf this morning.

83- night off

Well I got in 2 veggies and 3 fruits. I was out in the lab at work all day so I didn't get to get in my usually snacks.
I was 2 under my points.

I did not work out. As some of you know my upper back has been hurting me - which has lead me to a great chiropractor down here. But last night it was hurting so bad I slept with a heating pad on all night. It does feel better this moring.

My husbands parents come down tomorrow and stay through Tuesday - another big test on this journey - not because my inlaws are coming down - just in my weight loss journey while with them.

:-) Happy Fake Friday to ME!

Tuesday, July 8, 2008

82 - Tuesday

I went over my points by two today. I got in 3 fruits and 2 veggies today.
Now the good news.

75 - long day

Just had a long day at work. Got home about 8 pm tonight. I changed and got right on my wii fit. I put in 22 minutes and felt so tired I just couldn't do any more. Sometimes that is how days are and we have to listen to our bodies. I used the rule of thumb of start exercising and you don't know, sometimes your body will carry you further than you first imagined. That is usually what happens to me, I am so tired when I start but as I get going I get more energized. Not too night, so I knew it was time to stop and say that was good enough for tonight.

I have 5 points left for today. I got in 2 fruits and 3 veggies. I usually do better on my veggies - at least one more - but I was out in the lab today and so I couldn't eat my normal snack of carrots or cucumbers.

Here are the workout details:

Happy Wednesday to All - yes I know tomorrow is Wednesday, just getting an early start.

74 - Just another Monday

I ate my points today.
I got in 4 veggies and 2 fruits.

I did the free step for 30 minutes on the wii fit. I had to put some extra time for work so that is all I did.

73 - Sunday (not) a day of rest

Nutrition first: I got in my target points today. I also got in 4 veggies and 3 fruits.

Earlier in the day I did a light 45 minute workout on the Wii fit (see the actual workout and times below), but I knew we were going to be working in the garage this evening and I wasn't disappointed.
We got the floor up in the attic, or as much as we had wood for. Then we started putting boxes up. I lifted them up and my husband grabed them at the top. Up and down the latter with boxes. My arms and shoulders are feeling it already.

Well that is it for now, here are the workout details:

71 - IT'S FRIDAY!

Ok! So I know that the balance games on the Wii Fit are areobic exercise, but man does an hour and a half make your abs hurt!!! :-) Plus then I did 45 minutes of areobic Wii Fit exercises after the hour and half. Trust me - you give it a try and you will feel every muscle around your midsection you didn't even know where there.

I stayed under my points today. I got in 4 veggies and 2 fruits.

Tomorrow is weigh in day. Hopefully it is better than the last 2 weeks. I have been paying even extra attention this week - plus putting in at least an hour of work out most of the nights this week. Well we shall see - I got to know that I am doing everything I am suppose to and not worry about it until it is an issue. You can see my Wii Fit work out and my scores - if you use a Wii Fit why don't you challenge me with your scores. It will keep us both going to know we are challenging each other.

Sorry I didn't write yesterday. I did not get in any exercise, but I did clean the house for 2 hours yesterday. I stayed with in my points - I actually had one to spare.

I picked up Jeremy from the Airport at 10:30 last night - we got home a little after midnight. Man was it hard to get up this morning.

I had a bit of a scare yesterday with the screening at work, but I am going to go to my doctor and have them rerun the blood work from blood drawn from the vein.

Other than that Happy FRIDAY!!!

66 - Sunday

Ok - I stayed with in my points today, but did not get in any veggies or fruits.
I did the Wii Fit stepping for 30 minutes, 2997 steps.
I spent most of the day finishing a craft I had started a while back that I really wanted to get done. I did finish it. I am very proud of it, but I am not describing it at this time because I want the person it is for to see it first. I will post a picture of it once that person receives it.

I wanted to get an hour in of working out - but it took me a little longer to get the craft done. But 1/2 hour should be enough! Well the rest of the week will be a goal to get at least an hour in. And fruit and veggies - I can't let that slide.

Good night.

Day 65 - Not such a good day

Well I really don't know what happened but I gained 2 pounds this week. Not knowing is the most frustrating part. So this week I am going to kick my exercising up back to like those first few weeks.

This week was better than last week - we will see if it shows tomorrow.

Good Luck to all who are watching their weight!

Remember:
There are only 24 hours in a day - you can't save them for later - and each day you get a brand new 24 hours.

Day 63 - compitition

I worked out on the Wii Fit for an hour last night. I did strength traing, boxing, stepping, and I hula hooped for 10 minutes! Wow you never realise when you are a kid just how much of a workout hula hooping is.
Then dad and I challanged each other to see who could do the most headers and how fast we could do the down hill skiing.

I stayed with in my points and I got in 1 veggie and 2 fruits.

Happy FRIDAY!

Day 62 - long

Well it took my almost an hour to get home last night because it was raining so hard! Crazy! I went over my points by 2 last night, but I got in 2 fruits and 1 veggie. I walked for 20 minutes. Tonight I am going to hit it hard and get in one of my 45 - 60 minute workouts. I think by varing my amount of minutes I will keep my body guessing and it will have a greater affect.

This afternoon I take Jeremy to the airport so that he can go back to Iowa and start assessing and fixing the damage. When he sends pictures I will post them - if you don't see the pictures of somewhere you are familiar with it is very difficult to get a handle on just how bad it is.

Talk to ya soon.

61 - Good Day

I stayed with in my points today. I got 20 minutes of walking in. We found out that our house has a lot less damage than we thought it would.
And my favorite author, Janet Evanovich, just realease book 14 in her series and have almost finished reading it.

Have a great night.

House update - Good News

Well finally we got our realator in to the town and into our house.
1) There is no water upstairs!!!
2) A couple sheets of siding may have to be replaced in the back
3) There was probably only 4ft of water in the basement - and
4) at this point there is only 1ft left of standing water.
5) Water only got up 3 or 4 of the basement stairs.
......
6) The people are still interseted in the house - they want to get in an inspect the damage themselves!!!!

Sure there is work to be done - but not anywhere near as much as we thought there might be.

Monday, June 16, 2008

Day 60 - Wahoo!

Ok - lets see I stayed within my points today, but I did have a very little piece of carrot cake. Shouldn't be a big deal because I stayed within my points but usually sweat things have 2 strikes against me. The biggest strike? It makes me want to eat more - I really have to feel like me will power is strong to even take the first bite. If my will power is strong I can limit myself to the small couple bite size piece. If not .... well thats why I am the size I am. Second strike is that it is one of the foods that just always puts weight on me. So it is a very rare treat. It tasted GREAT! Then the reason for the Wahoo! in the title: I tried out the new Leslie Sansone dvd. Walk slim a fast 4 mile walk. and HOLY COW! with that work out - a little more than 45 minutes - I might as well have stood under running water I was so sweaty. A great workout to feel in every muscle and really rev up the endorphins.
If any one is looking for good dvds no matter your workout experience I highly recommend the Lesile Sansone dvds: Walk Away the Pounds and Walk Slim.

Well have a great Tuesday!

Update on house in Palo

Our house has been taged by the strike team :
YELLOW TAG - Restricted. Is to be posted on any building in which damage has resulted in some form of restriction to continued occupancy. The individual posting this placard shall note in general terms the type of damage encountered and shall clearly and concisely note the restrictions on continued occupancy.

We do not know anymore that this at the time - but Yellow means Jeremy will be able to get in there and assess the damage when he goes up on Friday. Hopefully our realator will be able to get over there today and we will find out more.

Day 59 - sorry this is the next morning

Ok - I stayed with in my points. Wahoo! I got in 1 fruit and 3 veggies. Wahoo! I also got in 1 hour bike ride and walk around the grocery store. Then I did 30 minutes stepping with the Wii Fit later.

Still know new news on the house yet.

Saturday, June 14, 2008

58 - Not so great Satufday

I gained a pound this week - I think there a couple of reasons for this.
1) I did not get in as many fruits and veggies I have been
2) The stress from the week before finally caught up to me
3) The flooding of the house in Iowa was weighing on me more than I am aware.

So this week I am going to concentrate on my fuits and veggies and writing everything down.

Today I stayed within my points and got in 3 veggies.
I took tank on a run and I rode my bike for 15 minutes.
I did 30 minutes of stepping with the wii fit.

Still at this point do not know anything about the house in Iowa. There is a chance we will know something tomorrow - I will keep you updated.

Friday, June 13, 2008

57 - Its Friday

Ok! Well what a week it has been. First lets start with today:
I stayed within my points. I had 2 veggies and no fruit.
I worked out on my wii fit for 40 minutes (stepping and running).

Our house in Palo Iowa:
We are pretty sure that it is flooded, but we do not know the extent of the damage. Palo has been mandatory evacuated since Wednesday night and according to the news reports it could be up to 2 weeks before they let any body back in. (This is for safety reasons) And by not letting any one back in - I mean all the ins and outs of Palo are blocked by the National Guard (according to the local news). When it is safe to return my husband is going to go back and check out the damage and take care of any paper work that may be need.

And now the hope that God has given us: Before the floods hit there was someone interested in our house and was going to make an offer. We do not know the status of that now, but we hope this person is still interested and we can just negotiate after we assess the damage.

My husband and I are both of the mind that we cannot do anything right now so we are keeping the worring to a minimum - because it sure won't help.

Then on to the more immediate matters - tomorrow is weigh in day! I can't believe it has been almost two months since I started this whole journey. I believe I have made some real life changing habits. I work out 5-6 days a week for a minimum of 30 minutes - with out stressing about where to fit it in. I am getting a lot better and getting in my fruits and veggies, not completely all 5 a day I'm suppose to get - but that will come. And the best habit --- when I go out to restaurants it is getting easier and easier to pick the right types of foods and not even feel deprived.

Well we shall see what tomorrow brings.

Happy Friday the 13th! ~ :-)

Thursday, June 12, 2008

56 - Flooded

Ok well yesterday I took the night off and crocheted, which I haven't done in quite a while - it was great. I did stay within my points.

Today I stayed within my points and got in one fruit. Then for exercise I did 37 minutes on the Wii Fit.

On a not so great note - our house in Iowa is flooded. At this point that is all we know. We don't know how bad, how much - none of the answers. At this point it is a wait and see.

I hope everyone has a great Friday.

Tuesday, June 10, 2008

54 - regular tuesday

Just a regular old tuesday. I stayed within my points. I had 1 fruit and 1 veggie - not so good, but still got it in. Then I did 45 minutes on my Wii fit. I did the free stepping and the free run.
Another than that it is a nice quite night. I will probably call it an early night again tonigh.
I am really looking forward to next week - one of my favorite authors is releasing another book (Janet Evanovich)!!!!

Have a Happy Wednesday!!!

Monday, June 9, 2008

53 - good day

Well today was a good day. My husband had an interview. I got in 30 minutes of a workout. I got in 2 veggies and 1 fruit. Then my husband suggested we check out the new restaurant that just opened. It was wonderful. I did have all the point values so I think I may have gone over just and little bit, but I was really proud that I only ate half the steak (they didn't have a smaller option) and my side was a veggie. I had a salad with vinegrette and I did the fork dip thing and didn't even use a fourth of the dressing - if that had all been poured on there it would have been drowning.
Last night I - even though I went to bed early - I tossed and turned and only really got about 4 hours of sleep, so even though it is only 10 to 9 I am off to bed, for hopefully a more restfull night.

Have a great Tuesday.

Sunday, June 8, 2008

52 - Relaxing Sunday

I slept in today - it felt great! Then for lunch I rode by bike up to the subway and back, about 2 miles total. Main was I soaking when I got back. The temp outside was only suppose to be about 84, but that didn't include the humidity! :-)

Then the Euro Cup had started, big soccer tournament. I haven't sat and watched soccer in a long time - it was great.

Then I did 20 minutes of the Wii Fit boxing.

Tomorrow it is back to work, a lot calmer week.

Hope everyone has a great week.

Day 51 - weigh in

Sorry about this late post - had a busy day yesterday.

I stayed the same this week. At first I was a little dissappointed, but then I evaluated the week I had. Long 10 - 13 hour days. Plenty of stress. On top of the the cheese cake, brownies, and lunches and dinner that were offered all week. Sure I would have liked to have lost this week, but life isn't perfect - and you can't lose every week. But in the past I would have had every brownie and cheesecake offered, this time a didn't - This is a Success!

I rode my bike for 20 minutes in the morning. In the afternoon I did the "free step" on the Wii Fit for 30 minutes. This is a function when you "unlock" you can do the stepping while switching the channel to any TV you would like to watch, this is also available for the running. I love these two options!!

And so I start another week on this Journey.

Friday, June 6, 2008

50 - Excited!

It has been a great day! First our we got great news from our customer after a very long week and I was able to go home at about 3:00pm.
I came home - took a nice little nap.
Then I worked out for 30 minutes with the Wii, a little boxing and some stepping.
On top of that - when my husband came home we went out and bought bikes! We then rode them around for about 20 minutes.

I stayed within my points to day. I had 3 fuits and no veggies today.

Tomorrow is weigh in day!

Thursday, June 5, 2008

49 - decent time today

Well I left work about 5:20pm today, only a 9 hour day! Wahoo. I stayed with in my points today and got 2 fruits and and 1 veggie in today.

When I got home I got on my Wii Fit and I did a little bit of Yoga and then I hulu hooped and stepped to add up to 3o minutes.

I am tired but it release a lot of stress and tension that was in my muscles. I should sleep really good tonight.

Thank Goodness Tomorrow is Friday and our Customer leaves. Back to normal!

Day 48 - Another Fun Day

I stayed within my points and got in 2 fruites and 2 veggies. Thats the good news.
The bad news: I did not leave work until 9:20pm - so when I got home at 10pm I just said hello to my husband and my dog and crawled into bed.
I can't wait until this week is over so I can get back on my schedule. I don't think this week is going to throw me off - I am concentrating really hard on watching what I eat knowing that I don't know how long each day is going to go, so I don't know if I will be up to working out when I get home.

I'm also using one of the little hits people always say and am walking everywhere I can - instead of e-mailing or instant messaging. If I can I get up and take the walk. Not a lot of exercise, but when you can't get anything in and least it is something.

Hopefully tonight will be earlier.

Day 46 and 47 - Not giving up

For all of those who check my blog every day I'm sorry about letting you down yesterday. Our customers are in town from France this week and I was invited to go to dinner with them yesterday (which hasn't happened before) and I did not get home until 10pm. Due to my tiredness and how long I know this week will be I just went to bed when I got home. I did stay with in my points yesteday and got 3 fruits in yesterday.

Today I stayed with in my points and got in 3 fruits and 1 veggie. After dinner I decided to do just the areobic exercises on my Wii Fit - this is 35 minutes of working out.

Yesterday and Today was 10 hours of work and most likely so will Wednesday and Thursday. Friday might be just a regular 8 hour day - if we are lucky :-). So knowing how these long, stressful weeks can be I am making sure I get in at least 30 minutes of exercise in - but I am not pushing it to the hour long work out. I know that should be enough for me to burn off the day and the excess stress, but not enough to push my body past its exhaustion point and make me sick.

I hope all of you are having a good week.

Sunday, June 1, 2008

Day 45 - Sunday

Well I had a pretty relaxing day - which I thought would be very much appreciated once this week gets rolling. Our customer will be in the office all week and I will be apart of all the meetings. All this week will go from at least 8:30am to 6:30pm, and some night(s) might including going out to dinner.

I stayed within my points today. I got two veggies and on fruit in today.

On my Wii Fit I have obtained all the yoga poses, strengthing exercises and aerobic exercises. Tonight I did all the Yoga poses and strengthing exercises (not the challenges though) I was pretty tired at that point (it to 49 minutes to do all those) but I know that doing at least a little areobic exercise after strength training can be very benificial so I did the Island run. This gave me a total of 1 hour for my workout tonight.

I hope everyone has a great Monday.

Saturday, May 31, 2008

Day 44 - workout

Well I was going to take the day off but:
I went shopping for about an hour.
Then I wanted to play the games on the Wii, so I did the Wii balance games for about 15 minutes.
Then I decided to use the Wii and went for a 20 minute run.

I am still with in my points with 13 points left and I have had 2 veggies already.

Ok got to go watch the shuttle launch.

Happy Saturday.

Day 44 - weigh in

Loast 1 1/2 pounds this week! Thats 7.5 total. I wasn't sure I was going to lose this week - so this was a really big success.

43 - Friday

I worked out for and hour and 20 minutes on my Wii Fit tonight. I can definetly feel it in my muscles. I may take tomorrow off to give my muscles a break - though I might go shopping so I can turn that into a longer "lazy" walk.

I stayed with in my points today. I got 2 veggies in. I really need to go to grocery store for some fruit.

Well Happy Friday, tomorrow is Saturday Weigh in Day.

42 - Thursday

Wii fit again! 60 minutes. Yoga, Strength training, areobics and balancing games.
I like that each day it keeps track of my statistics and shows me on a graph. It shows my Wii character (Mii) according to my statistics, so right now it is on the obese side.

I stayed with in my points today. Got 2 veggis in and all my milk.

Tomorrow is FRIDAY!!!!

Day 41 - Later night

Well I didn't get home until 7:30 tonight. But I got changed and worked out on my Wii Fit for an hour tonight. I did Yoga, Strengthing exercises, areobic workouts and then balancing games - which are my reward at the end of the workout.
I stayed with in my points today. I haven't gone and bought more fruit yet so I didn't get any in buy I did get 3 veggies in.
Well I guess that is all I know for now.
I hope everyone had a great Hump Day.

Day 41 - WII FIT!!!!

Wahooo!!!! I got my Wii Fit today. I love it! I just spent 45 min working out. There are Yoga poses, balancing games, and arobic activities (hulu hop, headers,... running). There are also strengthing exercises, but I haven't tried those yet. I love the running ones and the skiing ones. I'm still not feeling a hundred precent, but until the doctors say I can't work out or my body tells me to stop I will keep going. I know it is the only thing that is going to work - so I really hope I don't get to the point where the doctor or my body tells me to stop.
Thankfully our Customer who was going to come this week (a week early) could not get their travel plans approved so they will be here next week as originally planned. It is going to be a very long busy week, but because I have been consistently working out I do not think it will be an issue. I believe I have already made my working out a habit - so not to work out will be worse than staying up a little later to work out.

I stayed with in my points today. I got 3 veggies in.

Happy Tuesday to you all!

Day 40

Happy Memorial Day!

Well I didn't post yesterday, but I stayed within in my points and got in 2 veggies. I didn't officially work out, but spent about 4 hours helping my husband put up the stairs and part of the floor for our attic. A lot of lifting and holding and nailing. I could feel the work in my muscles when I came inside and desided not to push it with any more of a work out.

Today I stayed within my points. Got 5 veggies in. Then I did 30 minutes on my eliptical - program #1. I haven't used my eliptical in a while - it felt great.

Tomorrow is the day I have been waiting for for quite a while. Tomorrow my Wii Fit board comes!!! I will give you an update tomorrow and let you know what I think of it.

Have a great night!

Day 38

So yesterday was weigh in Day - I lost 1 1/2 pouns! That is a total of 6lbs. Slow and steady, though it is very difficult I can see that it is working. This week has been a big test for me - not feeling well and having the doctors telling me to take it easy. It was a big accomplishment to lose this week when my hole workout regiem got thrown out the window. It means the life changes I am trying to make are starting to become a habit and are not such a big struggle to chose the right foods. I'm getting close to not having to "think" about dieting. That is a huge step - according to a lot of the literature out there. If you always have to "think" about it and are on a diet, then one day you will want off your diet and will go back to the way things were before you were on a diet. The changes I am working on are not a diet - they are the things I want to be a way of life for the rest of my life.

I stayed with in my points. Got in 2 veggies. Did a 15 minute walk.

I will update later on how today goes.

Happy Sunday!

37 - Work out

Today my body was telling me I needed to do something. I'm still in some pain, but I was in a need of a workout. So I did a 30 minute walk with some arms but no weights. It felt good. I stayed with in my points today and even got 3 fruits in. Tomorrow is weigh in day - we shall see what happens. Hopefully watching what I ate this week - even though I couldn't work out - will pay off.

Happy Friday NIght to all.

Day 36

I'm taking it easy because that is what the DR said, but it is hard. I've gotten use to working out. So I took a nice easy 10 minute walk.
Stayed with in my points - still not hungry.
Only got in one veggie.

Day 35 - Crazy

So I got in 2 - 10 minute walks yesterday. I stayed with in my points. Still not feeling well so I saw a doctor. They said to lay off the activity until I am feeling better (I have some pain and the are being cautious). I can take small light walks - not alot but at least it is something and it keeps me on my schedule of working out.
I stayed way within my points. Only one veggie though.

On a really good note: they induced my sister and my little nephew will be here today or tomorrow! I can't wait.

I will update you on how today goes.

Day 34 - Just Barely

I wasn't very hungry again so I ate within my points again, a little under. I got a light 30 minute walk in place in. I am still running a mild fever so I am taking it easy - but not taking it off. I will let you know how today goes.
Happy Hump Day!

Day 33 - Day Off

I wasn't very hungry yesterday so I at just what I needed to. I stayed under my points due to this yesterday. I got in 2 cups of grapes, but no veggies yesterday. I layed on the couch until my husband got home so that Tank could run around. By 9:30 at the latest I was fast asleep and did not wake up until 7:30am. I am still running a fever and am a little tired, but other than that I don't have any other symptoms. I am going to try to go out and walk at lunch - I think I may be too tired tonight so at lunch will at least help me get something in.
Happy Tuesday.

Day 32

So I got in the 4 hours online drivers school course so that the ticket the high way patrolmen gave me for the accident I was in last month doesn't go on my record. I passed, big suprise! ;-)
I stayed right with in my points today.
Only got in 2 of the 5 fruits and veggies.
30 min light walk in place.
I have a bit of a light fever and felt pretty tired so I just wanted to get something in, but not push it too hard - I have to make it through the week.

I hope everyone has a Happy Monday!

Day 31 - Official Month

Well for the official day of a month it wasn't AWESOME, but it was ok. I stayed the same weight this week. Which actually for the week I had was an accomplishment. I know what I am working on is a life style change and so a week like this should not impede my weight loss, but in the past a week like this would have caused me to gain weight. So for this week it is an accomplishment that I maintained my weight.
Officially I have lost 4 1/2 pounds for this month. Its slow and steady weight loss - which is the right way - I just wished it was a little bit faster, but that is part of having PCOS. Knowing that the weight loss will be slow due to the PCOS is actually helpful - it keeps me from getting frustrated, which has stopped my efforts in the past.
Today I did a 15 minute light workout in the morning. Then after dinner Tank, my dog, and I went for a 30 minute walk.
I stayed with in my points today, I have 1 point left. I came up a little short on my fruits and veggies - but I got fruit and veggies in.
My husband and I are probably going to go to see the new Narnia movie tonight. I am not worried about the movie theater. It has never been a difficult place for me to go in terms of my over eating.
I am very proud of the 4 1/2 pounds I have lost this month, but I am a little disappointed that I did not pull of the 5 pounds for the month. This disappointment will not stop me though, it will just cause me to focus more this next month and see if I can make it to that 5 pounds lost during the next month.

Enjoy your Sunday.

Day 30 - Its Friday!

Friday and I picked up a new DVD. I can get board very easily, so the bigger my workout DVD collection gets the better chance I have of not giving up because I'm board. This was a good pick for my collection, "Drop it with Dance". It is 50 minutes of : Warm-up, Jazz Funck, Hip Hop, 90s (old school), Cool Down. And oh man this DVD is not for the faint of heart. You can do each dance section, Jazz Func, Hip Hop, or 90s (old school) by itself and it wouldn't be such a killer. I love DVDs that have options for the times of your workouts. This makes it easier to work out when you really are exhausted and it also makes it easier to mix and match if you are in a major workout mood.

I went just a little over points tonight - but I got all my fruits and veggies.

Cross your fingers for the weigh-in tomorrow.

Day 29 - Back to the Routine

Well tonight it was right back at it. No taking it easy. For the first day back I did a 50 min 3 mile walk with 3 lb weights (walk away the pounds).
I am sure I will feel this tomorrow, but tomorrow is FRIDAY!
I stayed within my points and got most of my fruit and veggies in.

Happy Friday!

Day 28 - HOME!

Tonight I am back at home in my bed. Thank goodness for my Aunt and Uncle who were able to take myself, my dog and my cat on such short notice.
I got home around 9pm tonight. Got settled in and then got on to work to get caught up a little more so I'm not so behind tomorrow.
Tomorrow it will be right back on track with my workouts. I can't wait.
Yesterday my aunt and I took the dogs for about a 20 minute walk - but its not the same as my normal 30 -60 minute butt kicking workouts. Thought my muscles are not sore at all anymore - so I may be in some minor pain for a few days again instead of minor discomfort. But it is definitly well worth it. It will be interesting to see what happens this Saturday at the weigh in, seeing how the last 3 days went. I have been watching what I was eating, but I haven't been as good as I normally am about writting everything down.

I will let you all know how tomorrow goes.

oh yeah - our house is totally fine. I cannot even smell any smoke from inside the house - but when you walk outside it is like walking up to a bon-fire.

I did it!!! I am Published

I did it!!! I finally pushed myself and got something published - already thinking what to do next.  But first this one.  I put together a ...
