Happy Monday - Tutu pictures

Happy Monday morning to you all!!!  Go a nice run in with my tutu on Saturday.  It was back to being humid in Florida, but its all good, just means I'm strengthening my lungs more.

I promised pictures of the tutu so here is the in process and the finished product of mine and Joceyln's tutu's and our running shirts!!!  Hope you enjoy and much as I did making them.

It says: What makes someone special? I suppose it all depends.  It's what's unique in each of us. - Ariel (Jocelyn's favorite character!!!)

Please pray for Jocelyn she is having a lot of pain and her tube is bleeding, they go back to CHOP on Tuesday and hopefully the doctors can help.  She also starts intense physical therapy on Tuesday because her vertebraes are smashed up against her ribs and her spine is shaped like a S.

Joy is still in the hospital - she is doing well thought she has grown and inch and after dropping some weight is gaining weight again.

Happy Monday, may your day be filled with many blessings.

P.s. If you wouldn't mind could you please help spread the word about the 5k race I'm helping organize - its on April 19th at 5:30 pm.  https://www.facebook.com/pages/Egg-Scramble-5k/382247451904728

It's Friday!!!

Wahooo!!! This week has just had a lot of running around in it, so I'm very glad it is Friday and we have to plans for the weekend.  Some of you may have seen the TuTu controversey all over facebook yesterday -well I have never been a big tutu wearer, but yesterday inspired me to do something about that.  I bought the materials and started making one, colors provided by my running buddy/coach.  It is almost complete and has lots of SPARKLE!!  I will be making Jocelyn a matching one - she is a  big TuTu fan :).   When they are both complete I will share some processes pictures and finished pictures.

Please keep my sister-in-law and baby Joy in your prayers.  They are still at the hospital.  They are recovering and are ready to go home, but some more tests are being run.

Also please keep Jocelyn in your prayers as she is back at CHOP today meeting with doctors.  Praying they can help her so she isn't in so much pain.

May you all have blessing filled weekends!

Happy Friday!

here is the TUTU info if you would like to know what is going on, but missed TuTu

Today is just another Day

Well its weigh in day again - happens same time every week.  Its not till later, but hey it is what it is.  Either the work of done this week will change the scale or it won't.  I know I am eating healthier and I am working out more consistently.  That is healthy for my blood, my bones, my lungs and my heart - if the weight wants to be stubborn so be it - eventually it will move if I stay consistent.

Running buddy/coach fact:
"It started off when Jocelyn was born at 26 weeks she had a NG tube while she was in the NICU. Then at the age of 2 she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer she had a brovaic (central line) for TPN (intervenes feeding) and chemo and a g-tube for feeding! She has never tolerated the NG and g-tube for feeding so we tried a GJ- tube well that didn't work so we went back to the brovaic up until recently because Jocelyn kept on getting blood infections and she would wind up in ICU  we had the broviac pulled on December 19 2013 and she got a j-tube placed thank god she is tolerating the feeds because I don't know where we would be without it" from her page Hope for Jocelyn (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Hope-for-Jocelyn/351637158314602)

Set your goals high

Good Morning!

I've updated the side of my page - did you notice?  I have created countdown clocks for each of my upcoming races that I know about.  As I plan others they will be added.  Setting goals is very important for me to stay motivated, but I also have to have viability to those goals.  In moments of weakness those visible reminders can stop me from choosing something I will wish later I hadn't.  We are all human, we will screw up, its what we do after that that truly matters.

I RUN 4 Jocelyn Fact:
My buddy/coach Jocelyn is 16.  She is a big fan of the little mermaid.  My mind is busy thinking of ways I can portray this as I run.  The run on April 5th I have to wear blue (work competition between buildings), but I will see what I can incorporate to represent little mermaid.

Happy Tuesday! May it be filled with many blessings.

P.s. Its bridge day today!

Weekend Recap

So the homeopathy visit went well.  We took the same remedy and upped the magnitude of it.  On Thursday I started the day with a minor headache - being on a remedy I cannot take any medicine for it.  Over the day it build, that by just after lunch I was very nauseous.  Needless to say that the 4 1/2 hour trip north was not a fun trip, but we stopped and got some ARNICA before heading up and that took the edge off.  I but my feet in heat and cold on the back of my neck once we got up north and that helped another notch down.
Friday I awoke feeling better, but the head ache was still lingering.  By the time I got to the doc's it was worse, but not as bad as the day before, Thank Goodness!!!   Doc said that this was a sign that the remedy was working and that we were just at that line between when another dose was needed.  The rest of that day the headache stayed the same and the next day I had some twinges but that was it for it.   So far today there are still some twinges, but very minor!!! So happy.

We got in three nice 2+ mile walks this weekend.  The weather was perfect, the scenery beautiful, and the company cherished.

My sister-in-law is pregnant with number 3 and labor started (she is past her due date so it is all good), however the labor stopped.  We are still waiting on news of the new niece to make her appearance.  So please if you are a praying person send prayers that way for a safe and healthy delivery.

The other very exciting news for this weekend - I got rematched with a running buddy/coach!!! Due to issues out of our control things did not work with Makwa.   Now we are matched with a lovely young lady named Jocelyn.  As I post I will introduce you to this lovely young lady.  She is either 15 or 16 - we just got matched so I can't tell if I just missed her birthday.   She is at the Children's Hospital for more tests and such today so if you can also send your prayers for her we would both appreciate it.

I suppose that is all for this Monday, I will be hitting the gym shortly for my lunch workout.

Happy Monday!! May it be filled with many blessings.

Are you wearing Crazy socks today?

Why wear crazy socks? To show your support of World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD).  Now for those that know me you know that I only wear matching socks when I run, because I haven't gotten enough compression socks yet to mix and match and have them be on the correct feet!!  However I went out of my way today to make sure they were crazy and mismatching.

By now you all know I belong to a group called I Run for Michael.  If you haven't yet check them out http://www.whoirun4.com/.

The group is an amazing bunch of people who are full of love and support for all.  We laugh and we cry, we pray and we sign praises.  Every day I am touched by this group - by what the "runners" do and by what our buddy's also push themselves to do.  We are setting goals and shattering them every day on both sides.

So get out there and rock your crazy socks today!!!

Happy Friday!!!! May your day be filled with many blessings.

my crazy socks for WDSD!!!

I feel cute today

I'm feeling good and cute in my clothes today.  Turns out this is a really good thing since I gained this week.  This is mot a surprise to me though. See I went back to really lofty g this week.  I mean I pushed weights o. Tuesday and I still feel it today! This is how my body reacts when I lift. In a few weeks I will benefit from this weeks workout.  Knowing that helps.  Feeling cute in my cloths today really helps to keep the "voices" at bay.

So here is a selfie for you all. Seeing the doc tomorrow. - with the ever present water bottle.  I usually drink around 6 of these a day minimum and haven't had a soda in over a month and a half.  I so wish the remove soda and drink more water lifestyle changes worked for me.  :)

Happy Thursday, may it be filled with blessings

Looking back

I saw the Homiopathic doctor on 1/24, I see him again this Friday.  I have a weigh in tomorrow, but as of today I have lost 1 pound since then.  While this may not seem like a lot, for me it is a maintained weight loss.  As we all know weight loss is not a fast process, but about learning how to live life daily and making changes that will withstand the test of time.

today I'm back at it

So after all the days of starting 25, I have built back up to lifting weights again.  I am starting with two days a week - this week was today (at lunch) and it will be Thursday (probably at lunch again).  I like the break up to my day, and thankfully my gym is just down the road.  I know working out at lunch doesn't always work, because work can get in the way.  However, for now I've decided to try it until it I can't make it work anymore and then I will adjust my schedule again and figure out where I need to pencil it in.

I also have a cycle program by itrain on my phone - a 20 min and a 40 min - which is great to let me get in a bit of cross training cardio on non running days.

Progress in the right direction, is measure in the steps you take, not the steps you don't take.

Happy Tuesday, may your day be filled with blessings.

Happy PI day!

Happy PI day! Yes I am showing my GEEK today - it is 3.14 as in the mathematical constant PI. hehehe

However I am watching my sugar in take so instead of pie today I have two sweet things to share:

Last night ran the corporate 5k and PR'ed!!! (Personal Record).  Last year I ran this race in 49:29, this year 47:36!!! Almost 2 minutes!!!   My lungs burned at the end, still scared from the asma attack at the Disney run, however the only way to fix lungs and train them to be better is to push that limit.  Though I hate throwing up, when it comes to running and asma pushing to that limit is actually beneficial in increasing your speed and lowering your times.

The second thing is - even though I gained on the scale this week, it was measurement time and the results are good. I hadn't actually measured since September. All measurements down, except 1, my chest is 1/2" bigger.  I've been doing a lot of pushups and tricep dips - so that can be attributed to the peck muscles gaining.

  9/1/13 3/14/14 Change
Upper arms 16 15.5 -0.5
chest 46 46.5 0.5
waist 48 47.5 -0.5
hips 54 52.5 -1.5
thighs 25 24 -1

Sweet, sweet treats for this PI day!

Happy Friday, may it be filled with many blessings.

Ugh!

I'm up 0.6 lbs this week.  So I'm still down 1 which is good, but annoying.  I see the homiopathic doc again next Friday.  Not sure whats up from last week and this week.

Thankfully tonight I will be running in the Corporate 5k.  A nice hard run will help drown out the frustration of my body weight fluctuating so much.  Added bonus - my running friend and I get to run together tonight again.  Lately our schedules have been off and so we have been running along.  It will be so nice to run together again.

One of the highlights of the Corporate run every year is the Green Beer, in honor of St. Patty's day.  However, this year I will not be partaking as I have given up alcohol for lent.  I was/am hoping that these 40 days of removing this will help give my weight loss an extra boost.

Happy Thursday, may it be filled with many blessings

I finally get to share!

If you look back to 2-14-2014, yes Valentine's day, you will see the title was Happy Day.  Well that had a very special meaning - that is the day I got married!!! My husband and I eloped, to a near by beach, with his daughter, her boyfriend and three other very close friends.

Why did we wait so long to tell everyone?  Well we wanted to tell our parents in person.  My parents and sister came down for their annual Disney trip.  We handed them envelopes with cards in them - that are often sent at Christmas time (ok well I didn't get my Christmas cards out this year so they were in there too!), but these ones said Just Married and had a collage of pictures.  My mom and my sisters reactions were priceless! We missed my mom on camera, but managed to film my sister.

Over the past year we had been telling both our families that we were just going to elope.  Neither of us wanted a big to-do with lots and lots of people.  This was about us, God, and our marriage - not our wedding day.  For us this is what felt right.  We had both done the big day thing before.

For those reading everyday, yes I did then get up the next morning and run a 3k with my step daughter at the zoo, where I set a PR by almost 5 minutes. :)

From the day we started dating my husband has supported my weight loss efforts and my running goals.  I know some are not as lucky to have that support and I do not take if for granted.  He loves to cook and he is always looking up new recipes that add lots of flavor with out the calories.  I went low carb and he went low carb with me.  I'm counting points and he is learning what that means.  He celebrates my victories and he helps evaluate when things don't go the right way.  He doesn't sugar coat it, but is supportive in the way I need.

So Happy Monday! May your day be filled with blessings.  Here is a picture of our day.

Not a good weigh in

Minor hiccup this week.  We gained a pound.  No excuses, sometimes that just what happens.  Will use it to push harder this next week.

Thankfully with the picture find this week I am finding this gain doesn't hurt as bad as it normally does.  Its not fun, but I'm not fighting that why do I even try feeling.  Which is nice.  When you are on a journey to change your habits and way of life, there will be bumps in the road.  That is ok as long as they don't knock you down and keep you down.

Happy Thursday

Change your Faces

QOTD ""Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced." -James Baldwin"

I saw this quote on one of my fitness pages this morning and it just hit true with me. It has been 6 years since I moved to Florida.  I have been focusing on my weight for a lot longer, but the last 3 and a 1/2 years I have really been focusing on my fitness in the form of running.  I've seen a slight difference in clothes size, about 1 size, and not much change on the scale.  As those of you who follow my blog know there have been some very discouraging moments with that.  However I finally have proof - for myself - that what I am doing is good and having some effect.  I had to renew my drivers license and take a new picture.  I wonder if you all will be as surprised as I was when I compared the two.  Let me just say I did a little happy dance right there in the DMV office!!!   I know the number on the scale doesn't really, really matter in the scheme of things - but when that is how you are judged whether you are healthy or not it is hard not to care.  This gave me the boost not to care, at least for a little while. :)

Happy Tuesday - may your day be filled with blessings beyond your imagination.

Happy Monday to you all

Good Morning! Happy Monday!

Don't curse me out.  My Gram always said you choose your attitude for the day - and I chose to be happy!

Today was Week 2 day 1 of my start the day of with 25.  Last week I made it all week with Sunday off.  Sunday is my day of rest - no work outs that day.  I also had another accomplishment last week.  We usually go out or order in on Friday nights.  This week was Chinese.  Unfortunately I have realized that when I eat Chinese I end up spending the next 3-4 days work it off just to get back to where I was.  This week I went else where and got a deli sandwich.  So far it doesn't seem like I'm fighting off that.  We shall see where this week takes me.

I am also very busy helping organize my first 5k - Egg Scramble 5k to be help April 19th at 5:30 pm!!!  We are 48 days out.  Check out our page and event: http://www.fellowshippalmbay.org/eggscramble5k/
We are also on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Egg-Scramble-5k/382247451904728
